SPORTS INTEGRITY CONFERENCE
7 décembre 2016 - 8 décembre 2016
Over the last years, the integrity and credibility of sport competitions have been undermined by the growing phenomenon of match-fixing. The manipulation of sports competitions has come high on the international agenda and there has been since then multiple efforts to tackle this growing threat.
Numerous organisations have taken action, from the sports movement, from the law enforcement authorities and intergovernmental organisations, and from the betting operators.
A significant number of projects and actions have been carried out in the past five years by all these stakeholders, and other activities and research are currently in progress. With this in orbit and in order to measure the progress of the on-going fight against match-fixing, the Sport Integrity Conference aims at presenting the state of play resulting from these initiatives and consider their synergies for an optimal coordination of all parties.
The World and European Lottery Associations (WLA&EL) have proposed this holistic approach. Building on years of commitment to tackle sports betting integrity risks in hand with its national member lotteries and a solid positioning upon the international networks involved in the fight, EL&WLA will bring together a high level community of experts to provide insights, discuss and interact.
The following axis will be explored:
Past and on-going projects, notably within the field of education and prevention, will be presented
The Council of Europe Convention against the manipulation of sports competitions framework and implementation will be presented and discussed.
There will be a focus on the importance and significance of sports betting monitoring through an insight of the operations of the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) and its contribution to the global prevention and action landscape.
